Star Wars II: Revenge of the Blog

I've been blogging on ebay. No, not blogging ABOUT ebay, but blogging ON ebay. At least, when I wrote the description for this "Star Wars Princess Leia Figure Vintage 1977 w/cape", it felt awfully like writing a blog post.

While you're there, you might as well check out my Obi-Wan and Darth Maul talking banks.

Since the description will disapear off Ebay eventually, here it is:

STAR WARS PRINCESS LEIA ORGANA FIGURE

VINTAGE - 1977

with cape

When I was in 6th grade, I wanted to be Princess Leia for Halloween. I bought this Princess Leia figure and a Han Solo blaster (the kind that made real shooting noises) and my mother made me a costume. I braided my hair and put it up in buns on the side of my head. I even wore my costume to school for our class party.

This Princess Leia figure is in excellent shape. Unlike my male cousins, who played with their Star Wars toys all the time, I was more into Barbies. This Leia was played with very gently but spent most of her time on display or in storage. As a result, her cape (original) is in perfect condition (no tears or marks) and she does not show any discernible paint wear. Her body is a slightly different color than her limbs but I believe this is due to the aging of the plastic and not dirt or wear. Limbs are "tight". Her leg is stamped "1977".

Unfortunately, her gun/blaster is missing. I suspect that my mother, who had sworn never to let me play with guns, threw it out along with the Han Solo blaster in a fit of guilt. Oh well.

Anyway, now I am the mommy and I have two little boys who are in need of Legos and Wiggles videos, so it is time for Princess Leia to go. Please give her a happy home and let her inspire a new generation of young Princesses.
